SEGMENT 1: Market Pulse Brief
MUSIC β warm pulse, 5s fade in
Eva: Good morning. It's Wednesday 9 September 2026 β Market Pulse Brief with Eva.
Let's look at what moved markets today...
Starting at home...
ASX 200 closed Mon at 9,010.9 (+0.1%), above MA50 8,979 and MA200 8,812, ~2.8% off the 52w high 9,271.6. Materials mixed: BHP β0.6%, Fortescue β1.4%, S32 +1.6% on 14M shares; banks soft, CommBank β1.8%; CSL +0.9% the defensive bright spot. NMG +5.0% on 41.9M shares β rare-earth momentum still running. Paladin Energy 11.67 (β0.3%), Deep Yellow 1.635 (β1.8%), Boss Energy 1.53 (β0.3%): uranium names drifting; Deep Yellow is below its MA200 (1.81), Boss Energy only just above (1.48).
Across Asia...
HSI 25,413 (β0.9%), still under MA200 25,654 β longer-term trend not repaired; β9% off the 52w high. Tencent 435.4 (β0.7%), Alibaba 109.5 (β0.1%), Meituan 80.6 (+0.7%), Xiaomi 26.92 (β2.1%) on 170M shares.
And on Wall Street...
SPY 765.96 (β0.6%), QQQ 718.36 (β0.1%) β modest fade, narrow leadership. TSLA 368.16 (+4.0%) the standout; NVDA 225.73 (β2.0%) capped tech; Nasdaq 26,421 still above MA50. Gold easing: GLD 399.72 (β1.7%), futures ~4,400; TLT flat, 10Y ~4.81% creeping higher.
What's driving it all...
USDJPY dropped to 153.9 (β1.5%) β sharp yen strength overnight, the classic risk-off tell. Equities not panicking but leadership is thinning: metals/energy carrying, tech pausing, gold off highs.
And finally, Eva's read on what to watch...
Yen bid + gold pullback + rising 10Y = financial conditions tightening at the margin; stay selective, not defensive. Uranium complex looks tired short-term: Paladin Energy still above its MA50 (10.22) but Deep Yellow and Boss Energy are the weak links. Watch whether HSI can reclaim MA200 β until then treat HK bounces as tactical only.
That's the market wrap for Wednesday 9 September 2026. Numbers are indicative, not advice.
MUSIC β short transition, 2s
SEGMENT 2: Eva's Corner
Eva: And now, a moment for something different. Eva's Corner β one idea to sit with today.
Markets reward patience more than prediction. The traders who last are not the ones who call every turn β they are the ones who position carefully, size sensibly, and let the theme do the work. Choose the ground you stand on, then let time compound it.
Until next time β this has been Market Pulse Brief with Eva. Five minutes. The market, then a breath.
