1Bollinger Bands (Jn3P-SSCiRU)VolatilityBands = volatility envelope; squeeze → expansion; setups: breakout / reversal / pullback
2Fibonacci retracements (Xu8d1K9SMsA)LevelsGolden Zone 0.618–0.786 of last swing = high-probability entry area; mechanical swing-point framework
3Moving Averages — 7 hacks (6flHiM5-n50)TrendMA = trend + dynamic support/resistance; MA orientation defines market stage

Candle anatomy

Four data points per candle: open, high, low, close.

  • Green body: close > open (buyers won) · Red: close < open
  • Wicks = rejected extremes (longer wick = stronger rejection)
  • Body size = conviction (marubozu = full body, no wicks, one-side control)
  • The same shape means OPPOSITE things at the top vs bottom of a move

The 10 patterns worth memorising

Bullish reversals (after decline, ideally AT MA/support):

  • Hammer — small body, long lower wick. Edge = hammer + NEXT green candle (hammer alone ≈ coin flip)
  • Bullish engulfing — up body engulfs prior down body (~63% reversal rate). Best after a 3–5 day pullback in an uptrend
  • Morning star — long red → small star → strong green closing deep into candle 1
  • Piercing line — up close above prior candle's midpoint

Bearish reversals (after uptrend):

  • Hanging man — hammer shape AT THE TOP (position flips meaning)
  • Shooting star — long upper wick = buyers rejected at highs
  • Bearish engulfing — big red body covers prior green body
  • Dark cloud cover — opens high, closes below prior midpoint

Continuation:

  • Rising three methods — big green, 3 drifters inside, big green
  • Falling three methods — bearish mirror

Tells: Doji at an extreme (resolves in trend direction) · Marubozu (pure conviction) · Tweezers (double rejection at same level) · Dragonfly doji

The desk workflow (4-layer stack)

  1. Trend/stage → MA20/MA50 relationships (already in scans)
  2. Volatility state → Bollinger squeeze precedes expansion
  3. Level quality → Fib Golden Zone of the last swing
  4. Trigger → candle confirmation AT the level — then act

Desk integration rules

  • Breakout candles: close position decides quality — close near high = conviction breakout; close near low = bull-trap warning
  • Pattern + confirmation candle = edge; pattern alone = coin flip
  • Failure modes to journal: hammer's lower-low next session; engulfing without follow-through; gap-fill against the star
  • Rate the sector through this lens before acting: e.g. ZIP'sh fall was low-volume drift (no capitulation candles yet = no bottom confirmation); EML's high-volume flush days = classic capitulation shape at lows
