Hostinger managed-AI — verified, and one number corrected

Open item 12 of prod-implementation-plan-2026-10-18.md reads: "Hostinger managed-Hermes feature-set verification beyond public page (Echo)." This closes it.

🟠 Re-verified 2026-10-21 (Echo). Two of this document's headline claims no longer hold, and the source list needs a fourth locale:

  1. The $5.99 figure is itself gone. Hostinger's live global AI-automation pricing page now shows $4.99/mo on a 24-month term (77% off, list $21.99), renewing at $11.99 — read 2026-10-21, Black Friday pricing. Our Australian pages (.com/au) show A$7.29/mo, renewing A$17.39. Neither locale shows $5.99 any more.
  2. Source 1 as cited no longer supports this section. hostinger.com/pricing/ai-automations is the global page; the AU page is a different URL with different prices. Every figure here is now tagged with its locale.
  3. Source 2 is stale. The tutorial still says "$5.99/month ... renews at $11.99/month", which now contradicts Hostinger's own live pricing page. It is kept as evidence of what was published, not as a live price.

The conclusion of this document is unchanged — we are still ~16× the entry price and ~6.8× the renewal price (AU page), and the direction of the gap is unchanged. The numbers move. Full re-audit: [hostinger-pricing-reverification-2026-10-21](hostinger-pricing-reverification-2026-10-21).

Headline: the competitive comparison used the wrong price. Our Hostinger study compares our A$119 Solo tier against "managed Hermes, $19.99/mo". Hostinger's published price is now $4.99/mo (global) / A$7.29/mo (AU) on a 24-month term (renewing at $11.99 / A$17.39 respectively).1

That is a 4× error in the number our pricing narrative leaned on. The positioning conclusion survives — we still do not compete on raw agent-hosting price — but the multiple is far worse than we stated, and it must not go to a tenant as-is.

1. The corrected numbers

From Hostinger's live AI-automation pricing page (read 2026-10-21):1

Global page — hostinger.com/pricing/ai-automations (USD):

TermPrice/moNote
24 months$4.99/mo77% off, list $21.99
12 months$7.99/mo
1 month$10.99/mo
Renewal$11.99/morenews for a further 2 years

Australian page — hostinger.com/au/pricing/ai-automations (AUD):

TermPrice/moNote
24 monthsA$7.29/mo77% OFF, list A$31.89
12 monthsA$11.59/mo
1 monthA$15.89/mo
RenewalA$17.39/morenews for a further 2 years

Hostinger's own cost tutorial still states the older shape — "Managed Hermes Agent. Starts at $5.99/month and renews at $11.99/month" — and notes the plan "includes infrastructure management, maintenance, security, AI credits, and web search, although heavier usage may require additional credits."2That tutorial is now stale (read 2026-10-21): it contradicts the vendor's live pricing page on the same site.

So the honest comparison is (AU page, the one our AU customers see):

Hostinger Managed Hermes (AU)Our Solo tier
HeadlineA$7.29/mo (24-mo lock-in)A$119/mo (monthly)
RenewalA$17.39/moA$119/mo
At A$1.43/USD (2026-10-20)A$7.29–17.39A$119

We are ~16× the entry price and ~6.8× the renewal price — not "27×" as the pricing doc states, not "13×" as this document stated on 2026-10-18, and not against $19.99 either. The services-pricing-model-aud.md §8.9 line and the Hostinger study's §6 both carry figures that need this correction.

Exchange-rate note: the 2026-10-18 version of this document assumed A$1.55/USD. The rate on 2026-10-20 was A$1.43/USD (exchangerate-api, 2026-10-21 00:02 UTC). At A$1.43, the global $4.99 price is A$7.14 — close to but not identical with the A$7.29 actually published on the AU page. Hostinger's AU price is not a straight FX conversion of the US price, which is why the AU page must be quoted directly rather than derived.

2. What the managed product actually is (the feature set, item 12)

Verified from the product pages and Hostinger's own comparison FAQ:[1][3]4

Both products are the same price and the same plan shape — Managed Hermes Agent and Managed OpenClaw are two apps on one "AI automation apps" plan, and you can switch between apps without losing data or configuration.[1]4

What "managed" includes:[1][3][5]6

  • Launch without technical setup — 1-click, visual interface or CLI
  • Runs 24/7 in its own isolated environment, with long-term memory across sessions1
  • Pre-configured AI credits; security managed for you1
  • Telegram and WhatsApp connection from a visual dashboard1
  • Bring your own ChatGPT Plus/Pro subscription instead of an OpenAI API key[1]5
  • Env-var management and log insights via the panel6

Hostinger's own positioning of the two, verbatim from their FAQ:1

  • Managed OpenClaw — "a personal AI assistant focused on conversational automation through messaging channels (WhatsApp, Telegram, Hostinger Email). Great for building chatbots, automating customer support, generating reports, and monitoring trends."
  • Managed Hermes Agent — "a self-improving AI agent built for task execution and autonomous workflows. Ideal for users who want an agent that can learn, execute complex tasks, run code when needed, and expand its own capabilities over time."

Our study's characterisation — "managed Hermes, no customisation" — is fair in substance, but the phrase overstates it as of 2026-10-21. The docs support "managed" and they also show a real configuration surface: CLI access, environment variables, AI-provider keys, backups, and log insights are all user-manageable. "no customisation" should read "no code customisation of the product" — you can reconfigure the environment, you cannot change what the product is. That is unchanged from 2026-10-18 in substance, but the wording is now too absolute.

It understates two things worth naming honestly:

  1. They include AI credits. Our Solo tier charges separately for AI (the GO-basis line in the pricing model). Hostinger bundles a credit allowance — so on entry pricing their effective cost is even lower than the headline.
  2. Telegram/WhatsApp connectivity is a shipped feature, not a build. Our EVE receptionist is web-chat; if a tenant asks "can it answer on WhatsApp", that is currently a gap on our side, not theirs.

3. Does this change the conclusion? No — but it sharpens it

The study's strategic call stands: we are not a cheaper Hostinger. What changes is the size of the gap, and therefore the discipline required in the pitch.

The corrected pitch line: "Hostinger will sell you a managed agent for about A$7/month (AU) or $5/month (US). We are not that. We sell a shop with checkout, a POS on your counter, and an agent that knows your stock — A$119/month, all in, no lock-in."

Two things this correction should trigger:

  1. Never quote the AI-agent hosting comparison in isolation. The entry figure is a 24-month prepaid lock-in; the renewal is $11.99 (US) / A$17.39 (AU). Any comparison must state which, and which country's page — the two locales differ. Our own doc warns about Hostinger's lock-in — it should also use the right number while doing so.
  2. A standing risk for Mira: at A$7–17/mo for a managed agent, a tenant who only wants an AI receptionist (product P4) has a much cheaper substitute than our A$49–79 standalone figure. P4 standalone pricing is the line most exposed to this competitor — the bundle is what defends us, not the agent.

Honest limits

  • Prices are Hostinger's published page, read 2026-10-21, from two locales: the global .com page in USD and the Australian .com/au page in AUD, both excluding taxes. They disagree, and the AU page is the one our AU customers would see.
  • These are Black Friday promotional prices (read 2026-10-21, "Get your Black Friday deal before it ends"). They are a promotional floor, not a durable benchmark.
  • I did not purchase a plan, so the effective cost with credits consumed is unmeasured.
  • I could not verify how many AI credits are included or what happens on exhaustion beyond "heavier usage may require additional credits".2
  • The $19.99 figure in our study — I could not find it anywhere on Hostinger's current pages. It may be a stale price or a different product (their VPS page lists an unrelated $19.49). I am reporting it as wrong, not as evidence of a price change I can date.
  • Source 2 (the Hermes cost tutorial) is now stale — it still advertises $5.99/$11.99 while the live pricing page says $4.99/$11.99. Kept as a record of what was published, not as a live price.
  • I did not test either managed product.
